Maruti Suzuki has recently launched their newest offering for Indian market, the third generation of their compact sub 4 meter sedan Maruti Suzuki Dizre. It is an all new car, based on all new platform, with all new interior and massively overhauled exterior. But with the same 1.2 litere K-Series petrol engine and the same old 1.3 litere DDiS Diesel engine. But there are more things to know about this car. And since the bookings has already gone live let us go through 5 of those points that you should know if you are planning to get a new car or particularly this car.

#1 This is an all new car

From the naming to the underpinnings, there is nothing in the car that has not been overhauled except the engines. Yes, the amazing success of this compact sedan has forced Maruti Suzuki India’s hands to not only give this car a massive overhaul inside out. But also to give the car its own distinct identity. So the car is not called Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire anymore. Now it is just Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Built on Suzuki’s B platform, better known as ‘Hertect’ with an extended wheelbase of 20mm from the previous generation. Thus increasing the space inside the car. The new platform allows the base models of the cars to be a good 80kgs lighter than the outgoing models. In turn improving handling characteristics and fuel efficiency.

#2 Passenger safety has finally taken the centre stage

With ever-increasing numbers of road fatalities, Maruti Suzuki India has decided to make all the safety features standard across all the variants. As a result ABS, EBD, Seatbelt Pretentioners, Dual Airbags, ISO Fix Child seat mounts and DRLs are standard across all variants. Soon the days will be of by gone era when you have to by the top of the line variant to keep your family safe in the car.

#3 Era of Automatic cars starts here

Apart from the base variants of the petrol and diesel models all other variants of both petrol and diesel will be available with automatic transmission as an option. Where as petrol variants will be available with a torque converter unit. Diesel variants will be offered with automated manual transmission units.

#4 Same old engines

Though the car has been completely overhauled inside out, we were not fortunate enough to get new engines. So under the hood the engines are on duty are 1.2 liter K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3 liter DDiS diesel engine. With no change in power figures.

Engine Displacement 1.2L K-Series Petrol and 1.3L DDiS diesel
Max. Power
83 bhp / 74 bhp
Peak Torque
115 Nm / 190 Nm

#5 Technology is Prime

Apart from general goodies like climate control, EORVMs top of the line variant comes with pretty loaded with tech. It comes with a 7 inch infotainment system loded with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Mirror Link, Smartphone Linkage Audio Display. It also comes with AC vents in front and rear both. 4, 12v charging sockets, also in front and rear. It also has a pretty neat driver information system(DIS) to keep the distractions at the minimum. ABS, EBD, Dual airbags, ISO Fix child seat mounts are standard across all variants. And citing upcoming safety norms we can be pretty sure that backup sensors will also be standard across all variants(no backup camera at all ), if not immediately, in very near future.

So the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire is pretty much a complete package in the compact sedan segment loaded with tech and safety both. And if you intend to shop for a compact sedan anytime in next two years, the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire absolutely deserves a place in your shortlist.
